“Thought stems from language, language stems from thought.”

The relation between language and thought is an ongoing process. The child by learning reading and writing in the elementary school, also formulates the language but in order to use the formula in a correct manner, s/he has to develop the listening, understanding and narration skills. Children come to learn foreign languages really easier if they have strong native language base. The reason why in Üsküdar SEV Middle School language learning has a special place is that language skills have an effective impact on communication skills and good communication skills are key to success in life.

Turkish lessons in our school aim students to comprehend four basic language skills through contents and methods. The Turkish language  education  aims to raise individuals who move forward from self-story to others’ stories, who stretch from daily life to  universal life dimensions, who can make connections between self-living and others’ lives, who can work towards solutions and make comments and  argue and write and  share and push the limits,  have developed language awareness and knowledge about themselves , the environment, the nature, the country  and the  universe and  develop positive opinions about themselves.

Turkish lessons involve reading, writing, comprehending, listening / monitoring major areas of studying. The lesson adhering to the Ministry of Education curriculum, is carried out through literary works, text books and guided books.

Modern educational approaches are used for students to acquire these four major skills in a lasting and effective manner.
